Stephany Brown's Success Story
Today, majority of the medical population claim that tramadol, an opioid analgesic and centrally acting pain reliever, has high potential of addiction among users. In fact, statistics are being published every so often to show and warn medical professionals about its unwanted effects. Health care staffs are busy preventing these to be administered but I to the opposite of their claim is where I strongly lay my stand.
I am a registered nurse working in a community hospital for 5 years now. The longest area I managed was the medical ward. I often hear from physicians to avoid administering tramadol, not unless the strongest pain occurs. It’s not my hobby nor my principle as a Nurse to interfere with the orders of physicians to the patients inside my wards, but I did not just settle to what they often claim. There was one particular physician who always being contradicted by other doctors due to his persistent administration of tramadol to patients. I saw how eager are honest he was, so I secretly supported his claim.
I conducted a research inside the area where I worked for and observed patients who received tramadol as their primary analgesic and to those who don’t. I discovered that majority of the patients who received tramadol experienced a quick pain management that lasted longer than felt by those who receive the other kinds of pain reliever. The experimental subjects also added that they felt more comfortable and that they had higher will power to mobilize and exercise the areas where they found painful prior to tramadol administration. On the other hand, the case was different from the neutral group. The intensity of pain felt after medicating with other analgesic lowered but not totally eradicated. Also, they couldn’t just mobilize their affected parts knowing that pain might intensify during the process.
Upon gathering the results of my study, I presented it to our Nurse supervisor and Nurse Director. They managed to schedule a joint meeting with the director of medicine in the hospital and presented my case. The director found it significantly interesting and arranged a joint meeting with the physicians and nurses. All the aims and goals I had through my study were presented in front of them and an honest judgment was given.
Now, tramadol is not being left out for pain management. In fact, it is known as the primary pain medication inside the medical ward. Without the literature I found from www.buytramadol24x7.com, I will not be able to understand how I should consider tramadol and present it to the total health care population.
