Premature Ejaculation
Treat Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculate is a condition in men where ejaculation happens earlier than his partner in sexual intercourse. They achieve orgasm before the female does. It has been a major issue on some men that eventually affects their ability to achieve emotional satisfaction and relationship bond.
There are certain factors that contribute to this kind of condition. Psychological causes are emotional problems like depression and anxiety, erectile dysfunction, early sexual experiences, and conflicts that push men in a rush during sexual intercourses leading to inability to achieve intimacy. Men with erectile dysfunction most likely rush during intercourse to avoid losing erection. Men in stress are unable to relax during sexual intercourse. Biological factors include heredity, abnormal hormone levels, inflammation of the prostate or urethra, abnormal reflexes in the ejaculatory system, trauma, and possible withdrawal syndromes from narcotics. Health problems and certain medication like psychotropic drugs may also cause premature ejaculation. Patients with heart problems are more likely to experience premature ejaculation.
Management on premature ejaculation focused sex therapy, and improving physical and mental health. Kegel exercises are performed to gain voluntary muscle control during ejaculation. In sexual therapy, men are advised to masturbate earlier, about one to two hours before the intercourse in order to delay ejaculation. Avoiding sexual intercourse for a period of time is also suggested to balance or return sexual capabilities to normal. Psychotherapy is beneficial for those who experience emotional problems like anxiety, depression, guilt feelings, that interfere in promoting sexual and emotional intimacy. This involves counseling to promote effective coping mechanisms during stress and problems. Couples should not be embarrassed to talk about this matter since it normally happens to many couples. Open communication between the couples should also be done to resolve conflicts.
Medications like antidepressants and anesthetic agents are given to treat premature ejaculation. It is more recommended to consult your physician on the proper medication to take in order to yield better results and to promote safety. One of the side effects of antidepressant medications is the ability to delay orgasm. Most of the prescribed drugs are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), like sertraline, paroxetine, and fluoxetine. Tricyclic antidepressants, like clomipramine are given if there are no signs of improvement from the SSRIs. They may be taken in low dosages hours before the intercourse. Anesthetic creams that contain lidocaine numb the penis to delay ejaculation. Lidocaine is a drug used to relieve burning and pain from inflammation, and are used as a local anesthetic in minor surgical procedures. It is used to lessen the sensation of the penis to avoid early ejaculation. To wipe off the cream during the intercourse, it is applied hours beforehand. However, it is reported that anesthetic creams reduce pleasure in both men and women during intercourse. Thus, it must be used according to the prescribed doses.
